How to Mine a Cryptocurrency That Monitors Air Quality (and make ~$207/mo)

If you could buy a few, inexpensive items, plug them in, and let them run 24/7 to make around $207 per month… would you do it?

After learning about mining Helium Tokens (and now earning ~$230/mo mining HNT), I wanted to see if I could do something similar with another cryptocurrency.

Enter… PLANETs.

What is the PLANETS token?

The creators of the token, PlanetWatch.io, explain it like this, “Earn rewards and help us build a global air quality monitoring network to detect pollution hotspots and protect everyone’s health.”

Essentially, a person measures the air quality in their home, office, outdoors and gets rewarded for doing so.

Tools You’ll Need to Mine PLANETS

It took me a few days to figure out what was needed to mine the PLANETS token but I’ll sum up those tools so you don’t have to wait as long.

Before I continue, I have to disclose that for anyone living in the United States (like me), there is no actual way to “cash out” yet! However, I’m mining for the long-term.

I figure that as popularity increases on these tokens (like we saw with mining $HNT), more exchanges will start adding PLANETS to their roster.

The Helium token to 2 years to get there so if you want money now, this may not be the solution for you.

I’ve been mining PLANETS for about 19 days and so far I’ve mined 443.74 tokens. As it continues, by the end of the month, I will have mined 691 PLANETS, earning ~$207.

Around 13 days after the first month, I will have made my initial investment of $323.14 back and everything from here on out will be profit!

When I first started, the price of 1 PLANETS was $0.13. It’s now at $0.28! To me, that shows growth and with growth comes more adoption from exchanges!

Tools Used to Mine PLANETS

Here is a break down of everything I’ve purchased, to date. Below the image, you can use the links to find the exact products I’m using:

  1. Atmotube Pro (found here on Amazon) — $179.50 — This is the tool used to measure air quality. This item does sell out fast when it’s in stock so make sure to check their website and sign up for their newsletter to be notified when they’re available. When I bought mine, they sold out in 4 hours.
  2. PlanetWatch Type 4 license — $60 — This is a required license in order to mine. I chose the 2 year version because it seemed like the best deal for the price. If you’re in the United States, visit PlanetWatch.us. Everyone else visit PlanetWatch.io.
  3. Android tablet (here’s what I’m using) — $54.69 — A phone or tablet running Android will work best. I found this cheap tablet on Amazon but I’ve seen other people using old Android phones. You technically can use an iPhone but since the app needs to be running 24/7, each time you swipe to close the app, you won’t earn anything while it’s closed. You ideally want a device you don’t care about running the app the entire time to earn the max amount of PLANETS each day.
  4. Timer (optional, link on Amazon) — $28.95 — For the first 14 days mining, I didn’t have this timer. I found a free app on the Google Play store that said it would keep the tablet’s display “ON” 24/7. While this app worked, it didn’t work perfectly and caused my tablet to shut off at random times, thus not mining the max number of PLANETS per day. This timer works beautifully and has been mining great ever since I started using it!

Now that you know the tools, here’s how to set everything up. Instead of writing out the instructions, I’m linking to the video I used and found to be very helpful:

And there you have it!

With this setup, you can earn a maximum of 23.07 PLANETS per day.
